Melasma covering part 2………

Since my original post on my melasma journey I explained about an amazing camoflauge product I had discovered.  Since that original post where I was using shade 3 for a natural look, I did purchase the keromask shade 9 to Match my foundation for a more “full makeup” look.  So here are the products I used to achieve my look and a video of how I apply. I get asked a lot on the melasma Facebook page how I cover it so well, so I wanted to show to procedure and products I used.

The very raw honest truth of what melasma looks like and how I go about protecting my skin and then covering it up.  Excuse the horrendous state of my face but thank the lord for makeup 🙏🏻! re are so many women and men like myself Suffering from this every day, so if me sharing helps one other person then I will be really Happy.

My Melasma Journey

Well after having my mirena coil fitted in 2015 I only had it in a short while when I began to notice a brown line developing under my eye.  After crazy googling I realised it was melasma and I think the hormones in the coil were the cause, so after only 3 months I had it taken out!!! (Picture below is about 6 months after coil came out so you can see the line under my eye and this is where I first noticed it, I hadn’t paid much attention to me cheeks but it this picture you can see where it’s coming there too)

The melasma didn’t stop and continued to spread and spread!  I knew that pregnancy wasn’t going to be easy on my skin and many women suffer “the mask of pregnancy” so I have just had to be realistic!

I’m not ill, I’m not dying I just have a skin condition which makes me feel self conscious and I just wanted to do my best to find a cure.

After a lot of research, £100’s spent on creams and various treatments I just came to the conclusion the main cause I honestly believe is from within.  I religiously use spf50 on my face every day as the sun definitely darkens it.  But I just have to embrace this new Panda version of myself.

I have tried every brand of makeup, concealer e.t.c and although it would even out the skin tone NOTHING would cover it and I actually missed just being bare faced rather than feeling I have to cake on layers and layers every day.

I’m really lucky to have a very supportive husband who always reassures me and actually the children have never once noticed it or made a comment.  I guess it’s just a part of me.

Then recently I watched a Katie Piper documentary about ladies with skin problems and how they cover up.  It made me feel stupid for feeling bad about mine.  The women on this show including Katie herself are truly inspirational and suffered with far far worse than me.  I became interested in what makeup it was they were using to cover their skin so flawlessly.

I then discovered Keromask.  I was quick to jump online and order their sample kit.  I went for the lighter skin tone samples which seemed to match my skin tone best.  It was only about £5 and free delivery so I couldn’t wait to try.  The key thing for me was to find something that works over my spf50 and protecting my face from more damage is key!

When it arrived a few days later I couldn’t wait to try it.

There were plenty of colours for me to try and I was lucky enough to find shade 3 which is my perfect natural skin tone, so for the “no makeup” look.  And then shade 9 matched my foundation perfectly for if I want the full makeup look.

Apologies for the gross pictures but I’m keeping it real here🙈.  The pattern of my melasma seems quite unusual and I can’t imagine what shape it will be after this baby arrives….

I literally am blown away with how natural the results are.  I haven’t taken a pic with the full makeup look yet as I wanted to make sure I was 100% happy with the first shade and powder before I bought the next.
So for anyone else suffering with melasma or pigmentation I cannot recommend this enough.  I think accepting it’s not going to go away is the hardest thing but I guarantee this will give you a confidence boost.

I hope this post will help just one other person to get abut of confidence back and don’t worry your not alone.
